The person behind your books
Obie Bookkeeping is one person, on purpose. When you call, you reach the same person who keeps your books, and who has spent three decades making financial numbers make sense.
I am Sean Oberholtzer, and I started Obie Bookkeeping to do one thing well: give the people who drive our local economy clean books and clear numbers, without the jargon and without the surprises.
For thirty years I worked in enterprise financial systems, the large, complex platforms that run the accounting for major organizations. I spent those years making sure the numbers were right, that they told the truth about the business, and that the people relying on them could actually understand what they were looking at. That is a rare kind of experience to bring to a one-person bookkeeping practice, and it is exactly what I put to work for every client.
What I noticed along the way is that the people who need this help most are often the ones least likely to get it. A real estate agent closing deals, a contractor running crews, a small business owner wearing every hat, none of them started their business to spend Sunday nights categorizing receipts or dreading a tax bill they did not see coming. They deserve the same rigor a large company gets, sized and priced for how they actually work.
Why real estate and the trades
Both earn in ways a generic bookkeeper tends to get wrong. Commission income and broker splits, or profit measured job by job, need books built around that reality, not forced into a one-size template. I build yours around your world, so your monthly numbers reflect what you truly netted, not just what came in.
More than the books
As a QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor, I include the software in every plan and keep it running the way it should. Two more services are on the way that pair naturally with the real estate world I already serve: mobile notary and loan signing, launching in August 2026, and tax preparation, planned for tax season 2027. Bookkeeping is where my focus is today.
I live and work in Indio, and the Coachella Valley is home. When I say I know your market, I mean I live in it. If you want a steady hand on your numbers and a straight answer when you call, that is what I am here for.
