I am Sean Oberholtzer, and I started Obie Bookkeeping to give growing businesses something most of them never get: not just clean books, but the management reporting that tells them how to grow.

For 30 years I worked in enterprise finance transformation, including 16 years at Deloitte, building the financial systems, reporting, and processes that large organizations run on. My job was to make sure the numbers were right, that they told the truth about the business, and that the leaders relying on them could see what to do next. The certifications I have earned since only confirmed what that career already taught me: the discipline that keeps a big company's books clean and its leaders well-informed is exactly what a small business needs, just right-sized.

What sets me apart

Most bookkeepers stop at reconciled accounts and a standard profit-and-loss statement. I go further, into management reporting: the numbers that actually drive decisions. I help you see which jobs, clients, and products truly make you money, where your margins are slipping, and where your next dollar of revenue and profit is hiding. Clean books are the foundation. Using them to grow your business is the point.

Who I serve

I have a specialty in real estate and the trades, because both earn in ways a generic bookkeeper tends to get wrong: commission income and broker splits, or profit measured job by job. But the work applies to any business, from a solo operator up to a multi-entity company that needs consolidated reporting. And because it is all handled remotely, I serve clients nationwide, from my home base in the Coachella Valley.

Certified on both major cloud accounting platforms

I hold current advisor certifications from both Intuit and Xero: Xero Certified Specialist (Level 3), QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor (Levels 1 and 2), Intuit Enterprise Suite certified, Client Advisory Services Foundations graduate, and Intuit Bookkeeping certified. I stay current on the newest tools, including AI-powered accounting. Practically, that means I can work wherever your books already live, and your software subscription can be bundled into your monthly fee at no markup so there is one bill instead of two. Two more services are on the way: mobile notary and loan signing in 2026, and tax preparation for tax season 2027.
