What areas does Obie Bookkeeping serve?
Obie Bookkeeping is based in the Coachella Valley in Indio, but the bookkeeping work reaches much further. Because it is handled remotely, I serve clients across Southern California, throughout the state of California, and nationwide. The notary and loan signing services launching in August 2026 are the exception: those require me to come to you in person, so they will be limited to Riverside County.
How much does bookkeeping cost for a real estate agent?
Plans are flat monthly rates rather than hourly. Agent Essentials is $300 per month for an individual agent, Broker Builder is $550 per month for solo and independent brokers, Brokerage Full-Charge is $1,200 per month for brokerages with 2 to 20 agents, and Brokerage Advisory is $2,500 per month for brokerages with 20 to 100 agents. A QuickBooks Online subscription is included in every plan.
Is QuickBooks included, or do I pay for it separately?
Either way works. A matched QuickBooks Online subscription is included in every plan at no extra charge, billed through the ProAdvisor program so you do not need to buy your own license. If you already have your own QuickBooks Online subscription and prefer to keep it, that is fine too, and your monthly fee is adjusted to reflect that the subscription is not being provided.
Are you a CPA, and can you file my taxes?
No, I am not a CPA, and today Obie Bookkeeping provides bookkeeping only, producing clean, audit-ready books and quarterly estimated-tax figures your CPA or tax preparer uses to file. Starting in 2027, I will be able to prepare and file taxes as a service. Even then, I recommend that your CPA review the prepared return before it is actually filed.
What does a bookkeeper do for a real estate agent that a general bookkeeper does not?
Commission income is tracked deal by deal, with broker splits, desk fees, and referral fees handled correctly so real margins are visible. Mileage and receipts are captured automatically through the QuickBooks mobile app. The monthly profit and loss statement shows what was actually netted after splits and costs, not just gross commission.
Do you offer notary or tax preparation services?
Both are on the way. Mobile notary and loan signing services are launching in August 2026, and tax preparation services are planned for tax season 2027. Bookkeeping is the current focus and is available now. Contact me to be notified when the notary and tax services open.
